Local-first by design
Your device data stays under your control.
Test works before it knows who you are. Permissions are explicit, measurements are local-first, and browser limitations stay visible.
Browser tests
Tests run in your browser. A result can include timing metrics, browser and platform hints, viewport and screen dimensions, pixel ratio, logical processor count, an optional coarse memory hint, and an optional connection hint. These values explain the result; hidden hardware facts are not guessed.
Camera and microphone
The webcam and microphone tools request access only after you press their start button. Their streams are used for the live preview or meter in this tab, are not uploaded by Test, and are stopped when you stop the test or leave the page. Your browser controls the permission.
Local history
When you choose Save, the report is written to localStorage in this browser. It is not synchronized to an account or uploaded. You can delete one result or clear the entire history from the dashboard.
Shareable reports
When you choose Share, the report is encoded into the URL fragment after the # symbol. Fragments are not sent to the web server during a normal request. Anyone with the complete link can read that embedded report, so share it intentionally.
Network measurements
The network test makes short uncached requests to the server hosting Test. It measures this browser-to-server route; it does not inspect other traffic or claim to represent your internet plan’s maximum speed.
Temporary device data
Audio tones are generated locally. The storage test creates a small temporary IndexedDB value and deletes it. Touch, keyboard, mouse, controller, vibration, battery, and screen tools use browser APIs only while needed. Location access is never requested.
Third-party advertising
Pages load labeled ads from highperformanceformat.com and effectivecpmnetwork.com. Those providers can receive standard request details such as your IP address, browser, referrer, and their own cookies or identifiers. Test does not intentionally send your test inputs, camera or microphone streams, or saved benchmark results to ad providers. Advertising activity can influence browser benchmark readings, so repeat a benchmark when you need a stable comparison.
Manage saved results
Open the dashboard to review or clear saved runs. Clearing this site’s browser data also removes local history.
